The AcceleDent medical device improves orthodontic treatment

Even before the first traditional brace is put on, or the first aligner tray fitted, most of my patients are looking forward to the day their teeth straightening process is complete. Although the timeframe for wearing braces or Invisalign varies for each patient, there is one thing all patients can do to speed up the process: AcceleDent.

This FDA-cleared medical device can shorten treatment time by 30 to 40 percent by stimulating the bone to remodel faster. A small rechargeable device fits over your braces, or Invisalign, and applies calibrated vibrations that transmit through the roots of your teeth to the surrounding bone, which speeds up the rate at which your teeth can move, without potential damage.

Patients also tell us they are more comfortable when using AcceleDent because the soreness associated with orthodontic movements with braces and aligners is lessened. Plus, when used with Invisalign, it helps seat the aligner trays to better encapsulate the teeth.

Simple to use, patients put it between their teeth and bite down on it for 20 minutes every day.

It is ideal for both children and adults, and especially those who are trying to coincide treatment with an upcoming event. I have seen amazing results in as little as six or seven months for some patients who opt for Invisalign treatment to straighten their teeth before a big event, such as a wedding or graduation, so they have a beautiful smile for the photos.

While there are several other similar products available, I have found AcceleDent to be the best on the market and caution patients not to buy products online that have not been medically approved by the FDA.
